Cookies & Analytics

The short version

This site sets no cookies at all — not for analytics, not for advertising, not for anything else — and it stores nothing on your device by any other means either. That is why there is no cookie banner: there is nothing stored on your device for us to ask your permission about. It is not an oversight.

How we measure site usage

We use Umami, an analytics tool we run on our own server rather than a service that collects data on our behalf. It records the page you viewed, the site that referred you here, your browser and device type, and your country.

It does not set a cookie. It cannot recognise you when you come back tomorrow, and it cannot see anything you do on any other website.

It also does not store your IP address. It combines your address with your browser details into a scrambled identifier that changes every day, then discards the address itself. That is enough to count a visit and not enough to identify you.

We use this to work out which pages are worth keeping and which are not, and we keep the records for 12 months. The legal basis is our legitimate interests in running a website that does its job. Because no cookie or similar technology is stored on your device, this does not require your consent under the Privacy and Electronic Communications Regulations.

Our web server writes its own access log, which is a different thing and does record IP addresses. We keep it so that it is there if we need to diagnose a fault or look into misuse of the site, on the basis of our legitimate interests in keeping the site working and secure, and it is deleted after 30 days.

What we do not do

There is no advertising on this site and no advertising network is given access to it. We do not build profiles of visitors. We do not sell or share analytics data. We do not use session recording or heatmap tools that capture what you type or where you move your mouse. The fonts are served from our own server, so viewing this site does not tell Google or any font service that you did.

Booking a call

Our booking is handled by Cal.com. Selecting the booking link takes you to Cal.com's own site, and while you are there their cookies and their own site notice apply to that page. The details you give when you book — your name, your email address, and how you heard about us — are collected by Cal.com on our behalf, so what we do with them and how long we keep them is set out in our privacy notice.

Your browser

Because we set nothing, there is nothing here for you to opt out of. If you would like to block analytics anyway, any content blocker will do it, and the site will work exactly as before.
